Numerical wildfire and AI Weather Workshop Announcement - Call for Participation

Numerical Wildfire and AI Weather is a small, high-level scientific workshop bringing together leading experts in weather AI, numerical wildfire forecasting, and fire-atmosphere interactions. The workshop is designed as an intensive, on-site event. Unlike large conferences, this small-group format allows for extended scientific exchanges, joint project work, and a strong interdisciplinary approach. The goal is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and operational needs by focusing on real-world applications of AI, numerical modeling, and risk assessment.

Organizing committee: Jean-François Muzy,Laure Raynaud, Alberto A., Christophe Paoli, Rachel Baïle, Roberta Baggio are pleased to announce the upcoming scientific workshop:

Organized with the support of CNRS, Université de Corse Pascal Paoli, ANR Saphir, and the FIRE-RES program and in the frame of NERO Network, this workshop will bring together a selected group of researchers and experts working on:

  • AI-enhanced weather prediction
  • Numerical wildfire simulation
  • Fire-atmosphere interactions
  • Risk assessment & operational forecasting tools

Registration & Abstract Submission

To participate, submit a short abstract (max. 300 words) with a title.

Fees

  • Approx. 400?€ – covers on-site accommodation and lunch for the week.
  • Free for members of Université de Corse.
  • Evenings are free and flexible for participants.

Program Highlights

  • Days 1–2: Wildfire science — fire modeling, coupling with mesoscale weather models, operational simulation
  • Days 3–4: AI and weather — ML for extreme event prediction, hybrid modeling, uncertainty quantification
  • Day 5 (AM): Synthesis + discussion with operational users and agencies

We welcome contributions from researchers, practitioners, and developers working at the crossroads of:
#WildfireScience #NumericalWeatherPrediction #ArtificialIntelligence #ClimateRisk #FireModeling #DisasterResponse #AIForGood #EnvironmentalScience #CNRS #UniversitéDeCorse #ANR #FireRes #Cargèse #CorsicaScience
